Liang Shuming (1893‒1988), Chinese thinker, educationalist, social activist,and one of the early representatives of modern Neo-Confucianism.Guy S. Alitto received his PhD degree from Harvard University, where healso taught before taking a position at the University of Chicago. In 1980and again in 1984, at Liang Shuming’s invitation, he conducted a series ofinterviews with Liang in Liang’s Beijing home.
