During this event, Wang Fang, President of FLTRP, reviewed the history of cooperation between two parties and spoke highly of the significance of "Chinese Academic Library" and "Key Concepts in Chinese Thought and Culture Series" projects. She said that with the growth of China's influence on the international stage, the attractiveness and appeal of Chinese culture to people abroad has also increased. The "Chinese Academic Library" and "Key Concepts in Chinese Thought and Culture Series" have introduced numerous well-known Chinese scholars' works to the international market, disseminating the essence of Chinese culture, Chinese wisdom and Chinese values. These two projects have become a model for Chinese and foreign publishing institutions to jointly develop topics and cooperate in international promotion. It is expected that the two parties will take this as a new starting, extend the scope of cooperation, enhance the level of cooperation, complement each other in original content production and overseas channel distribution, and jointly promote the brand influence and international dissemination of Chinese academic books.
Dr. Niels Peter Thomas, President Greater China & Managing Director Books of Springer Nature Group, pointed out in his speech that the original intention of launching “Chinese Academic Library” with FLTRP ten years ago was to introduce Chinese culture and Chinese academic thought to the world and promote understanding and dialogue between China and foreign countries. Today, the world is facing unprecedented challenges such as hunger, poverty, pandemics, climate change, etc., which cannot be solved by a single field of study, and in many cases, the humanities and social sciences are involved. China has a long history of civilization for thousands of years and has accumulated a rich ideological and cultural heritage. Springer Nature is proud to work with the FLTRP to interpret the essence of this heritage to the world, help the world better understand China, and draw wisdom from classic works while addressing these challenges. It is believed that in the next decade, Springer Nature and FLTRP will jointly play a greater role in the international dissemination of Chinese books.
Then, President Wang and President Thomas exchanged medals for the 10th anniversary of their cooperation and presented awards to the outstanding editors of "Chinese Academic Library" and "Key Concepts in Chinese Thought and Culture Series" in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the two projects.
In the release of the latest work "Edification in the Chinese Philosophy of Confucianism", the author Professor Li Jinglin introduced the background and purpose of writing through a video. He said that "Key Concepts in Chinese Thought and Culture Series" has built a platform for Chinese scholars to directly display their research results to overseas readers, which is of great significance for the world to more accurately understand the essence of traditional Chinese thought. Under the witness of the guests, the two presidents jointly unveiled "Edification in the Chinese Philosophy of Confucianism."
FLTRP and Springer Nature both said that they will continue to deepen cooperation in the field of academic publishing, promote Chinese academia to be more globalization, provide more high-level books for Chinese and foreign readers, and build a platform for dialogue and exchange between Chinese and foreign scholars.
