FLTRP is committed to providing solutions for lifelong education. In order to popularize foreign language education and improve national foreign language proficiency, FLTRP actively participates in public welfare activities such as book donations, teacher training, non-profit competitions and reading promotion. Free teacher training activities are held in different parts of China annually, which have accumulatively benefited more than 100,000 college English teachers, 800,000 primary and middle school English teachers, 20,000 multilingual teachers, 20,000 kindergartens and training institution teachers, and about 20,000 teachers who teach Chinese as a second language at home and abroad. A wide range of non-proft competitions have been held to provide a showcase for hundreds of millions of Chinese foreign language students.
FLTRP Teacher Training Sessions
FLTRP has been providing free training for more than 100,000 foreign language teachers each year since 1999, which has greatly promoted the development of foreign language teaching and research in China.
"FLTRP·ETIC Cup" National English Debating Competition
As a non-profit English debating competition in China, the annual "FLTRP·ETIC Cup" National English Debating Competition was first held in 1997. By 2025, 27 sessions have been successfully held.
"FLTRP Cup" National English Competition for Schools
Founded in 2004, it is a non-profit competition for senior high school students with the aim of cultivating elitists with international competitiveness.
"FLTRP·ETIC Cup" "Understanding Contemporary China" National Foreign Language Contest for College Students
The contest features 10 foreign languages, with an additional Chinese for overseas students, engaing around 1.7 million participants from more than 1,300 universities and colleges nationwide. It continues to promote innovation in foreign language teaching in higher education and cultivate more high-quality international talents.
Class Suspended but Learning Continues
In 2020, after the outbreak of Covid-19, in response to the MOE's initiative of "Class Suspended but Learning Continues", FLTRP made its online resources freely accessible to the whole society, providing 300 high-quality online foreign language courses and teaching solutions free of charge, which supported over 50 thousand teachers, 44 million college students and 30 million primary and secondary school students in China for home learning and online teaching.
China English Reading Academy
The China English Reading Academy, jointly founded by Beijing Normal University and FLTRP, is committed to promoting the development of English reading, teaching and research in China, disseminating advanced Enlish reading education concepts and practical experience, continuously improving the key competencies of students' English subjects, and enhancing the in-depth development of English teachers' teaching ability.
