1.4 Plants need water and the right temperature

If it is too cold a plant’s leaves cannot make food.

Water freezes, which means that it turns into

a solid and the plants cannot use it.

If it is too hot, the plant may have no water.

Roots, stems and leaves can dry and break.

Plants need the right temperature

You will need: 15 seeds, three plant pots, soil, a thermometer

Sow five seeds into each pot.
Cover the seeds in soil and give them water.

Place the pots in different places: one warm, one at room

temperature and one in the cold. Take the temperature in

each place. Keep them watered and don’t let the soil

dry out.
