Book Launch and Signing Ceremony Held by FLTRP and Green Fiction Publishing

On May 30, 2023, Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP) and Green Fiction Publishing (m) held a book launch for This is China and A Glimpse of Chinese History and Culture (Malay version) and a signing ceremony for Stories of Chinese People's Lives (Volume II) (Malay version) at the 40th Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair. This event was attended by Chinese and foreign guests, including Mr. Zhao Haiyun, Deputy Director of the Import and Export Bureau of the Publicity Department of the Chinese Communist Party, Mr. Liu Jie, Executive Vice President of FLTRP, and Mr. HO MUH JKE, President of Green Fiction Publishing(m).

Zhao Haiyun said in his speech that China and Malaysia are geographically and culturally close, with mutual interests and long-lasting friendship. Cultural exchanges between China and Malaysia are becoming increasingly frequent. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Malaysia, and next year will be the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. In this context, it is meaningful for the publishers of the two countries to make joint efforts to enrich exchanges by building a bridge with language and culture. The launch and signing of these new books symbolize the deepening of cultural exchanges between China and Malaysia. It is hoped that new modes of cooperation will be created, and more cooperative results will be achieved to not only strengthen the development of China-Malaysia cultural exchanges, but also promote mutual understanding and appreciation of each other's cultures.

Liu Jie said that, as one of the earliest Chinese publishers to engage in international cooperation, FLTRP has actively broadened the field of international cooperation over the past 40 years. FLTRP has set up a Chinese language center in Malaysia, and carried out productive cooperation with local institutions such as Green Fiction Publishing (m). This year marks the 10th anniversary of the “Belt and Road” initiative, and FLTRP is willing to strengthen cooperation with Malaysian publishers, so that the carefully compiled books can serve as a window for Malaysian friends to understand China.

HO MUH JKE expressed that Green Fiction Publishing (m) has been committed to cooperation between China and Malaysia in the fields of translation and publishing to promote mutual understanding and communication between the people of China and Malaysia. The Malay version of This is China and A Glimpse of Chinese History and Culture can help Malaysian people better understand the national profile, history and culture of China. The signing of Stories of Chinese People's Lives (Volume II) means that the cooperation between Green Fiction Publishing (m) and FLTRP has taken a new step. It is believed that these works can resonate with Malaysian readers.

These three books present an enduring and ever-changing Chinese culture, opening a window for Malaysian readers to understand and appreciate Chinese culture and Chinese society. In the future, FLTRP and Green Fiction Publishing (m) will deepen cooperation and exchanges in publishing and education, and work together to promote mutual learning between Chinese and Malaysian civilizations.
