The release of a new work from a bestselling IP with millions of sales, leading a new trend in international children's reading —"Pip and Posy's Emotional Intelligence Development Storybook" was launched at the Bologna International Children's Book Fair

On April 10, 2024, at the 61st Bologna International Children's Book Fair, Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP) together with Nosy Crow, a British publishing house, Magic Light, an animation production company, and Axel Scheffler, the author of the "Pip and Posy" series, co-hosted the launch event for "Pip and Posy 's Emotional Intelligence Development Storybook". This series is adapted from the "Pip and Posy" animated series into illustrated storybooks.

At the new book launch event, famous illustrator Axel Scheffler shared his journey in creating "Pip and Posy" and also discussed the success of his other bestselling work – the "Gruffalo" series. It is worth mentioning that the Simplified Chinese and bilingual English-Chinese editions of "The Gruffalo" were also introduced and published by FLTRP. Axel Scheffler expressed his gratitude to FLTRP and wished that "Pip and Posy’s Emotional Intelligence Development Storybook" would also be well-received by young readers and their parents.

Aidan Taylor-Gooby, the Licensing Director at Magic Light, the production company of the "Pip and Posy" animated series, mentioned in his speech that "Pip and Posy" published by Nosy Crow, has been very popular in the UK since its publication. The animation series, first broadcast in 2021, won several major awards including the British Animation Awards and was nominated for the highest accolade in British film, television, and gaming - the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards (BAFTA). He also mentioned that FLTRP has obtained the relevant licenses to produce toys accompanying this series of books, providing a rich and diverse range of products for Posy and Pip fans in China.

Chen Yuanyuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of FLTRP, reflected on the journey of the "Pip and Posy" series since its introduction to China in 2012. "Through more than ten years of relentless efforts, this set of picture books has become the first choice for enlightenment reading for many Chinese families with children aged 0-4 years old, consistently ranking in the top three of various best-selling children's book lists, with total sales exceeding ten million copies." The success of the animated series not only injected new vitality into the "Pip and Posy" brand but also created more possibilities. Chen Yuanyuan stated that over the past decade, "Pip and Posy" has become a classic IP in the Chinese children's book market. FLTRP, by deepening cooperation with the rights holders, continues to expand the product matrix of this well-known reading brand.

For example, the "Pip and Posy Puzzle Game Book" published last year integrates a variety of stickers, puzzles, and drawing games, allowing children to experience joy and growth through independent reading. The newly released "Pip and Posy's Emotional Intelligence Development Storybook" at this Bologna Book Fair, through the daily interesting stories of Posy and Pip, helps children cultivate high EQ during reading. Chen Yuanyuan also invited everyone to look forward to various formats of books, such as word big books, touch and flip books, as well as toys and other peripheral products being launched in China.
